On Sunday, December 13th, guests will gather in Bloomfield Street Historic District in one of Athens’ historic hidden-gem neighborhoods for The Bloomfield Gala.
The Holiday Gala marks the return of our longest-standing event, this year visiting the Bloomfield Street Historic District, where pecan trees, secret alleys, and lovingly-kept Craftsman houses evoke a mid-century nostalgia. The neighborhood, tucked away off of Milledge Avenue, features architecture styles of Victorian Eclectic, American Four-square, Bungalow, and Craftsman along with a few houses featuring Tudor Revival and Neoclassical detailing. Guests are invited to step inside some of the district’s finest homes and celebrate the community that continues to protect them.
Set against the backdrop of the Classic City’s quirkiest neighborhoods, the Bloomfield Gala will feature a holiday tour of homes, trolley rides, and seasonal fare. VIP ticket holders will continue the celebration at the historic Thurmond-Repass House (ca. 1887), which has been awarded two Preservation Awards in its lifetime and is stewarded by Elwood & Goetz. The VIP party will be an energetic live fundraising event with an open bar and grazing table provided by Butter Bites. Complimentary trolleys will transport VIP guests to the party.
Every ticket and toast directly support Historic Athens. For nearly 60 years, Historic Athens has worked to be the historic preservation education and advocacy group the Classic City deserves through community programming, educational initiatives, direct preservation action, and advocacy. Our mission is to develop community-wide understanding of the value of historic buildings, neighborhoods, and our shared cultural heritage.
