March History Hour: The Life of Dr. Ida Mae Hiram

This Women’s History Month, we’re honoring the life and legacy of Dr. Ida Mae Hiram, Georgia’s first Black female dentist and a beloved figure in Athens. We'll explore her trailblazing career, her deep community roots, and how First AME Church restored her home to serve elderly and disabled residents today. Come hear about one woman’s remarkable legacy of care and resilience.

History Hour with Historic Athens One Story is a free monthly education program reoccurring on the first Tuesday of the month at the Lyndon House Arts Center with complimentary lunch from Rashe's Cuisine provided on a first come, first serve basis with vegan options available.
